How To: Create Your Own Canna Massage Oil

It’s no secret that a good massage (or, let’s face it, even a halfway decent one) is good for the body and mind.

While you could use your cannabis-infused base oil just as it is, or by adding just a few drops of essential oils it can help transform the entire experience, creating a spa-like environment right in your own home. Essential oils use sensory-enhancing aromatherapy to help with everything from elevating your energy or creating a sense of calm to amplifying a sensuous state of mind. It all depends on the types and combinations of oils you use.

To begin, you’ll need your choice of essential oils. You can find them online or at your local natural market. You’ll also need a cannabis-infused oil you’ve either purchased or made. When making your own oil to be used as a topical massage oil, sesame oil is wonderfully light. Other good base oils for massage are coconut, avocado and grapeseed oils. Once you have your cannabis oil you’re ready to create your own blend.

  • 8 drops sandalwood essential oil
  • 3 drops orange essential oil

  • 1/4 cup (60ml) of carrier oil

Ease Into Energy
Bright and sunny, this stimulating blend of essential oils will help revitalize and stimulate your senses.

  • 8 drops ginger essential oil
  • 5 drops of grapefruit essential oil
  • 3 drops of juniper berry essential oil
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) of carrier oil

Directions:
Combine all of the ingredients in the container you will be using to store your oil. We recommend using a dark glass bottle, as it better protects the oils from light (which can reduce their potency). The oil blends can be applied to the skin at room temperature or heated. To warm up the oil, Place the entire bottle in a glass bowl filled with hot water. Recipes can be doubled or tripled as needed.
