Exotic & Rich Canna Chocolate Truffles
DISCLAIMER:
Dosing remains highly individualized and varies according to your symptoms and strength of the cannabis strain being used. As a general rule, try and maintain easily understood ratios between amounts of cannabis and butter or oil being infused. If your infused oil or butter is particularly strong, consider using only half infused and half non-infused, or whatever ratio works best for your specific needs. It’s incredibly important to keep your edibles out of reach of children or anyone else in your household who should not be using them. Make sure your edibles are properly marked and stashed safely away.
It is important to remember to always “start low and go slow.”
Determining your optimal dose requires careful consideration and guidance from a healthcare professional. It is best to consult with your healthcare provider in order to determine your individual dose.
You’ve probably heard rumors about dark chocolate being healthy, and while it isn’t exactly like eating kale or carrots, there are possible benefits.
Choosing dark chocolate over milk means less sugar, less fillers and more of the rich, deep chocolate itself. Cocoa contains antioxidants and nutrients that can make quenching your craving a little less guilt inducing. However, make sure to buy chocolate that has at least 60% or higher cocoa content—the higher the percentage the healthier it is. Whether chocolate is a daily indulgence or an occasional treat, we’re giving you two canna-infused dark chocolate truffle recipes to help satisfy your sweet tooth. Pick your base recipe and then add whatever gourmet flavours you desire. From spicy Mexican chocolate truffles to earthy Earl Grey, there are so many ways to make them. What makes it even easier is that you can use either canna-infused coconut oil or butter that’s been made with either dried bud or concentrated oil. Now, onward to the recipes!
Dairy Free Coconut Oil Dark Chocolate Truffles
Another trendy ingredient option for healthier eating, coconut oil has been shown to have multiple health benefits, including reducing inflammation and slightly raising the metabolic rate.
Ingredients
- 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped (at least 60% cocoa, but higher is even better)
- ¼ cup canna-infused coconut oil
- 3 tbsp water
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- cocoa powder for rolling
- toppings of choice for rolling (see below)
Directions
- In a small saucepan over low heat melt your chocolate with the canna oil and water, stirring regularly and making sure not to boil.
- Once the chocolate mixture is completely incorporated, stir in the vanilla extract.
- Transfer to a large bowl or 8-inch, square baking dish (or something fairly equivalent in size) and refrigerate for 2 hours.
- With a 1-inch ice cream scoop, melon baller or a teaspoon, make 24 equal-sized balls. Transfer them to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Coat your hands in cocoa powder to prevent the chocolate from sticking and then roll the balls with your hands, making them as uniform as possible. If the chocolate gets too soft, place it back in the refrigerator to firm up a bit.
- Roll your truffles in your chosen topping (see below). Try one, or make a variety of flavours.
Traditional Dark Chocolate Truffles
For more potent truffles, use all canna butter and for less potent truffles, use a combination of canna butter and regular butter.
Ingredients
- 1 ¾ cups of 60% or higher dark chocolate, chopped (or use chocolate chips)
- 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
- 7 tbsp canna butter, cut into pieces
- cocoa powder for rolling
- toppings of choice for rolling (see below)
Directions
- In a small saucepan bring the cream to a low simmer. Add the butter and stir until melted.
- Add the chocolate and stir until completely melted and smooth.
- Remove from heat and transfer to an 8-inch, square baking dish or large bowl (or something fairly equivalent in size) and refrigerate for 2 hours.
- With a 1-inch ice cream scoop, melon baller or a teaspoon, make 30 equal-sized balls.
Choose Your Truffle Toppings
Truffles get their name from their savory counterpart thanks to their similar appearance when rolled in cocoa powder. You can roll your truffles in traditional cocoa powder for an extra hit of healthy chocolate goodness. Or try using any of these options:
- Matcha powder
- Espresso powder
- Unsweetened coconut flakes
- Ground nuts, such as almonds or hazelnuts

Mexican Chocolate
After all of your ingredients have been fully melted and incorporated inside the saucepan, stir in 1 tsp of ground cinnamon and ¼ of ground cayenne pepper to the mixture.
